In July 2009, in Davao City, a gay photo studio owner was murdered. His head was repeatedly hit with a blunt object and the body was found inside a drum filled with water.
In November of the same year in Antique, Leonides Honejar, 33 years old, justified shooting his lesbian neighbor by saying that he was completely repulsed at the THOUGHT of the latter kissing his daughter. The accused is at large and being hunted by authorities.
In September 2010, in Camarines Sur, a medical doctor thought to be gay was found dead in a rice field. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) concluded that the doctor was doused with gasoline and burned while still alive because of the soot found in the body’s esophagus.
In October 2010, also in Camarines Sur, an unidentified body of a gay man aged between 40-45 was also discovered in a rice field. His thighs and penis were severed from his body. The police suspected that the manner of killing revealed severe hatred against the victim.
In December 2010, two gay college students were allegedly chased by a group of men, held against their will in a nearby house and killed. One of them was still able to send his mother a text message before dying. Days after, their bodies were found and one was almost completely devoured by stray dogs. This happened in Occidental Mindoro.
In January of this year in Currimao, Ilocos Norte, the body of gay Judge Fredelito Pingao was discovered lying in a pool of his own blood. His neck was slashed and the body bore multiple stab wounds.

I am not generalizing nor am I saying that those crimes committed were justified, called for or as the saying goes in the local vernacular, "buti nga". No, I am gay, so I definitely am angry and will not tolerate any of those.
However, there are really some gay guys and well, of course, it goes without saying that also straight guys are just as guilty of so to speak, "asking for it".
Ok, that line is loaded. I know and it will invite a lot of reactions especially from those who feel strongly against discrimination and advocates for freedom of expression.
Ok lang naman na yung bading would want to go out na naka micro mini at maglakad sa kalsada na animo'y rumarampa sa catwalk. Karapatan niya yun at wala tayong pakialam dapat dun. Kaso nga, ang ilan din sa mga bading dyan, nababalitaan mo rin na though in a subtle way and approach, alam mo na nangmomolestiya rin ng lalake, lalo ng mga batang lalake so simpre, pag nalaman yan ng mga magulang at kumalat sa komunidad yung balita, may ibang tao na i-gegeneralized na yan na lahat ng bading ay ganon.
Alam ko mahaba at masalimuot na talakayan to at di kayang ipaliwanag lahat sa isang comment lang dito. May pros at may cons, sigurado yun. Siguro ang gusto ko lang sabihin, kung gusto nating mga bading na respetuhin tayo ng ibang tao, magsimula dapat ito satin mismo by learning to respect ourselves first and by showing respect too to the rights, the sense and sensibilities of others. That way, you earn the respect due you. Respect begets respect.
i think that this hate crimes are reflections of how ignorant and stupid some homophobes are...being gay doesnt make less of a human..sometimes we are more human than this creatures who disguise themselves with severe dosage of straightness...
Na-realized ko lang na sa loob ng tahanan nagsisimula ang lahat ng klase ng dikriminasyon sa lipunan kung lumaki ka pamilyang limitado ang kaalaman sa pagiging bakla at lesbiyana naipapasa ang mga kulturang ito sa mga anak, na siyang namang nagiging mentalidad sa lipunan pagdating ng panahon.
Paano ba natin mapapalakas ang boses ng LGBT para marinig ng mga Politiko at mga Religious sector na higit pa sa pantay na karapatan na hinahanggad ay ang siguridad natin sa lipunan?
Sa ngayon mga kapatid higit sigurong mahalaga na laging maingat tayo sa ating mga sarili at sa ating siguridad.

I don't expect the government or society to do anything about this specifically. But individual vigilance always helps.
Same thing happened in Ondoy. It was the flood victims mostly who had to help themselves FIRST. Any help from the church, government, civil society, media, etc. is just a bonus.

hate crimes sa philippines?!? i dont think so!!!! Mataas ang tolerance level ng mga pinoy sa mga bading... isolated cases lang yang mga yan no reason to panick!!!!
