Scenes from the White Party

I was tapped by the Task Force Pride to be one of the emcees of last night's 9th White Party Manila and I had a blast. I shared the stage with entrepreneur and partyphile Robbie Francisco.

Almost everyone was in their clean white party outfit and the event happened in the gay iconic corner of Nakpil and Orosa streets in Malate.

White party is worldwide event among gay communities. And in this case, white stands for equality for everyone.

Some of the gay celebrities to grace the stage were TV host John Lapus, Comedian Vice Ganda and Entrepreneur Joel Cruz.

It was nice to see the contestants of Mr. Gay World Philippines 2010 in person and the reigning winners David Bosley and Clark Manalo.

It was also interesting to watch youtube sensations Lady Gagita and Haronce live.

The event was brought to us by Task Force Pride, the team behind Manila's Pride March, EZ Lubricant and Frenzy condoms.

A Different Sexual Journey

My gay friend recalled dating a gorgeous man from New York. Let's call him  Gary. The guys is a unique man simply because he used to be a female. Yes, a former female who underwent a sex change operation to become a "he". But why is he now dating my gay friend?

Here's the twist. Gary always wanted to become a gay man and not a straight man.

It was my first time to encounter such odd sexual journey. And my friend recalled how he made love to prosthetic balls and oversized clitoris, now functioning as a penis.

Such experience made me appreciate how diverse and different we all are. And that the life of a gay man is so unique that some females have actually transformed themselves to become one with us.

The Day to be Gay

I had a great time having dinner with one of Lexuality readers Doc G, and in the course of our conversation, there was one thing he raised that struck me most, his dream of retiring so he is free to be gay.

Doc G claims he comes from a field in his discipline where being gay is frowned upon, where being "out" is a career suicide.

And I can't help but feel sorry for many Filipino gay men in the same situation. The bitter truth is, for many professional gay men, the social acceptance of our sexual preference is far from reality. And for Doc G, reitiring is the only way out for him to enjoy his sexual identity.

Doc G, when you reach that day, when you are free to be gay,  I will be very happy for you. But I will be happier when the time comes that no Filipino gay man will have to wait for their retirement just so they can enjoy they really are.

Gays & Undocumented

models only from getty images
Some undocumented young Iraninas living in the US are fearing for their lives. They were just arrested for lack of documentation and if they get deported back to their homes, they could face a deadly trial as homosexuality in Iran is punishable with the death sentence.

Aren't we lucky to be in the Philippines?

Antonio is in Top 10

Our film, "Ang Lihim ni Antonio" directed by Joselito Altarejos is named by Spot.ph as one of the the "Ten Filipino Films You Must Watch Before You Die"

Thank you Spot.ph for this recognition.

But as for me, what's really the "must see" is Josh Ivan Morales in all his erect glory in this film. Hehehe.

And speaking of Antonio, the film is currently doing the rounds of different cities in Spain and is also a part of the "2010 New York Filipino Film Festival".

Gay Sign

Lexuality says:

One of the signs that a person is gay is that half of his facebook friends are men with sexy half naked profile pictures.

Raid?

There are many gay men, especially the young ones, who would like to try to visit a gay strip bar. Unfortunately, their major concern is the fear of a raid from the authorities.

To ease the fears of these curious young men, just remember that when you are simply a part of the audience, and the bar gets raided due to indecent exposure from the performer (i.e. penile exposure, live sexual act), as per my lawyer friend, the police cannot file any case against you. They can invite you for questionning. But they cannot hold you for more than 14 hours, as you can charge them for illegal detention should that happen.

So technically, there is no reason for anyone to fear patronizing strip bars.

But here's the fact, Filipino authorities are fond of threatening gay men because they know a lot of us, especially the closeted ones are vulnerable to cough up bribe money to release them immediately as they fear of being exposed to their failies and employers.

Reflecting on these cases, if those who are in power know that we gay men are still ashamed of our identity, we will always be a target of abuse.

Boys at the Resort

This image does not represent the resort. This is my personal photo
of where I am at right now - Amanpulo, Palawan
A blogger friend reported to me that when he visited a popular resort somewhere in Calatagan, Batangas, he noticed that there were unusually high number of personnel who were young men in their late teens to early twenties. The men were distinctly good looking and are not your usual blue collared boys.

And everywhere in the resort, a sign is posted saying that the hotel is not responsible for any private transactions between guests and personnel. Needless to say, my lawyer friend found this very intriguing.

You want a clue to the resort?

It's owned by a gay media personality.

A Dead Dream

One of my secret fantasies is to become an OFW in Saudi Arabia, shave off my goatee and monkey-haired legs and become the object of erection (or affection) to several Arabs.

But that dream is now dead.

The governemnt of Saudi has just issued a "gay ban" to foreign workers. Now, recruiters in the Philippines will now have turn you down if they suspect you to be gay wanting to work for Saudi.

Here's the full story on the gay ban.

Another Antonio Win

Congratulations to director Joselito Alatarejos and the rest of the people behind "Ang Lihim ni Antonio" for winning the best picture in Spain (Festival del Mar en Majorca). Antonio's lead actor, Kenjie Garcia again got the best actor award in this festival.

And to the fans of Joselito Altarejos, don't miss his most important film to date "Pink Halo Halo", an official selection at the Cinemalaya 2010 competition.

The Gay Parent

from the film "Little Boy/ Big Boy", an exploratory
narrativeon the joys of being a gay parent

If you are gay and you have a child, will you be honest enough to reveal your sexual preference to your child? If you plan to adopt a child, will the law recognize you, a gay man as a legitimate parent? If your child is sick, will your employer understand that you need to take a leave to take care of your child?

These are some of the difficult things, gay parents face on a daily basis.

Let me share an interesting article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer on this issue "When the Parent is Gay".

Laruang Lalake

Harry Laurel, one of our inspirations in
making our next film
"Laruang Lalake"

Filmmaker Joselito Altarejos and I are currently working on the pre-production of our once stalled project "Laruang Lalake". The film is an insider look on the small gay film industry in our country and what happens behind its camera.

"Laruang Lalake" will be my first production under my own label (borrowing from the music industry), Lexuality Entertainment.

And because I am producing this film, I am opening the doors of the shoot to a limited number of Lexuality readers either as an actor or just a spectator. How to get in? I still don't know. But, I'll keep you guys posted.

Big Papa Revisited

image from getty images
I got the chance to visit again one of the enduring names in the gay (strip) bar scene, "Big Papa" and this sexy place under a new management,  has outstanding interiors compared to other strip bars I have visited. The seats are comofortable and the stage now, has a better design.

Entrance to the bar is around Php250. And the "macho drinks", which is the mandatory purchase if you want to invite a dancer on your table is priced around Php350 to Php450. They now have a music room which costs Php3500 consummable which includes a dancer of your choice. We didn't try this so I wonder what kind of videoke microphone is used inside this room -- must be intersting.

Anyway, the quality of the dancers here are for me, still superior over the other bars I have been to. Big Papa is located along Tramo in Pasay.

Is Piolo Gay?

Piolo Pascual

An innocent sounding lady friend of mine blurted out one time, "Is Piolo really gay?". To the non-Filipinos, she is referring to Piolo Pascual, one of the country's formidable leading men in entertainment.

Although I have heard a lot of juicy stuff from people working around him and his alleged lovers, I chose not to share those stories. I simply challenged her to a simple showbiz "tsismis" analysis.

I have never heard of any persistent rumor accusing Robin Padilla or Willi Revillame or even John Lloyd Cruz to be gay. Simply because these actors never gave any reason for the people around them to believe that they are not straight. But the Piolo Pascual story has never died and it has resurrected again and again for almost a decade. Now, what does that tell us?

Expensive Sex

Paolo Rivero and Douglas Robinson in the film "Little Boy/ Big Boy"

Iconic Hollywood filmmaker Woody Allen once said:

The most expensive sex is free sex.
