"Demoralizing"

A certain person named Venancio Bunch Cortez messaged me in my facebook account claiming that he is "demoralized" with blatant homosexuality in the films I have written. Read our series of messages below:

Venancio Bunch Cortez:

Live and let live. because the world is more diverse and complex than you would expect it to be.

*****

Venancio Bunch Cortez:

Fun in Protest

Our gay brothers and sisters in the US have been facing a serious battle for their right for marriage. This video shows the lighter side of battling homophobia and discrimination.

Thanks "line of flight" for sharing this on facebook.

The Gay Anthem?

For the first time, I heard an original Filipino song that openly encourages gay men not be ashamed of themselves. This song is performed by a rock band named Siakol, who as per my research is a bunch of straight guys.

Thank you Siakol for making this song. This is a great piece of work that will inspire a lot of young, blossoming gay men out there.

I will definitely buy this CD to support this song.

Pro Life Seminar to "Change" Gay Men

The Pro-Life foundation, the major lobbyist against abortion and contraceptives is turning its gun on homosexuality with a seminar to "guide" families with gay members to "change" them.

What?!?!?!

Is any of us gay man guilty of abortion that the Pro Life guys have decided to to bring their attention to us? Or perhaps, ingesting sperm cells is now considered a form of abortion or artificial contraception?

Whatever their reason is, here's what their website says on their upcoming seminar. (for the young ones, Pray that your parents don't attend this seminar!):
PRO-LIFE PHILIPPINES FOUNDATION, INC. invites all to attend the Pro-Life Seminar Series for August titled WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE TELLS YOU “I’M GAY”

This talk deems to answer questions related to families confronted with the homosexual issue most popular today. With the proliferation of the homosexual culture in mass media, our young people are increasingly exposed to a stronger promotion of this so-called “alternative lifestyle.” How does the family handle this growing situation? What should be the attitude of parents and siblings and well-meaning friends when their loved one/s reveals their tendency towards same-sex attractions (SSA)?

This seminar also aims at helping the homosexual person understand the roots of his/her SSA, and hopefully be able to influence him/her to embrace a path of chastity and change.
My message to these guys: Good Luck!

In Defense of Johnron

I got this series of comments from a certain Jasmine who claims to be the girlfriend of sexy actor Johnron Tanada in response to the accusations that Johnron has been in a long term relationship with another model in Macau. I remember when I interviewed Johnron a few years back, he claimed to have a childhood sweetheart from his hometown in Gumaca, Quezon.

Here's the letter:

hi,

This is jasmine, gf of johnron tanada, I just want to make the issues clear, about the rumor that johnron is gay. My bf is not a gay, he is "super" straight!...which means that he would never commit any kind of intimate relationships with gays. He is only friendly, and the guy or as they say the "gay" which is Jude Marco (I know him also) is one of johnron's friends in Macau. Also, I would like to add...Johnron is no longer using any of the friendster accounts...Most of them are manipulated by "fake people" who uploaded pictures of johnron from websites. He's currently using a facebook account under the name "john tanada" but unfortunately this account doubled because there is "another person" (the fake one) using the same name, info, and primary pic of johnron. So for those who want to add johnron as a friend in facebook, try your best to verify which is the real account.Likewise, Johnron and I have been in a relationship for about 8 years. It started when we were still highschool students in Gumaca, Quezon...up to now, we still have that intimate relationship. So, again john is "NOT" a gay...its just that I can't accept that fact (sorry).

Hi Jasmine,

Thanks for dropping by this blog. Give my regards to Johnron!

Risky

I admire all the efforts of my former schoolmate Wanggo Gallaga, lifestyle writer and son of acclaimed filmmaker Peque Gallaga for HIV education. Having been sexually active myself, I know that there are so many good looking men out there who are very risky with their sexual behavior. And in times of heat, when a sexy guy seduces you to do it bareback, it takes a lot of "rational perspecitve" to say no to it.

Hats off to you, Wanggo!

Just wondering kung may indie film nang lumabas about "BAKAL BOYS"

yun lang, thanks and hope for ur reply. :-) tc godbless

- cielo

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Cielo,

Thanks for sending a message.

There's a film called "Bakal Boys" directed by one of my most admired screenwriters, Ralston Jover, but the film is not about the Cubao Bakal Boys that is your point of interest. I have not seen any film about these Bakal Boys but I remember one of the final scenes of Mel Chionglo's "Midnight Dancers" where one of the dancers become a bakal boy. That is to my recollection the only film that refers to this distinct group of sex workers.

I think the bakal boys also refer to the men who hang around the Araneta Coliseum about a decade ago when it was used to be perimetered by steel railings. But there are no more railings around the coliseum so the term "bakal" has become outdated in a way. But sex workers still hang around the coliseum especially around the area of Italliani's and Starbucks. Some of the workers I've met here were even former models of sexy magazines in the late 90's (Coverboys era). I am not so sure if there are still sex workers inside Farmer's plaza that's something I need to have update on. Because the back of the Gateway has become a mini-gay district, the sex workers now hang around Aurora blvd area of Gateway mall.

Thanks for getting in touch. Please continue to support gay films.

Salamat.

Facebook Remarks Against Gay Men

I was tagged in this facebook thread where a certain Elizabeth Sabile Imamura makes some public statements about gay men.

I think every netizen must be reminded that we must be careful in posting anything that might be offensive to a minority group such as the LGBT community.

The "Career Factor" in Attracting Men

I have two careers. One, as a yoga teacher, the other as a media practitioner - writing and producing videos and all. Both careers bring me to different places. And these two different careers attract two different kinds of men.

Whenever I'm at work wearing my hat as a screenwriter, i get to meet a lot of men. Some are graciously offered to me. Some are in for quick buck in exchange for some hot sex. Some are desperate to get into showbiz. And most of them, young and gorgeous.

However, my work as a yoga teacher offers a different experience. I get invited to different luxurious places and as I spread my legs and lift my butt high up into the air in front of a lot of people, I also get men asking for my number after my class. But the kind of men I meet is different. They are not the hunky showbiz type. They usually are mature and good looking professionals - the kind of men who offer stable relationships.

From these experiences, I can safely deduce that one's work is a major factor in the kind of partners that we attract in life. If you are unhappy with the samples of men that come your way, why not change career? Or at least package yourself differently? You'll besurprised how the re-invention could change your romantic life.

Pink Halo-halo on Wednesday

To all the fans of Joselito Altarejos, please don't miss his most personal film, "Pink Halo-halo", his Cinemalaya entry this year this Wednesday, August 11. Here's the Press Release from the movie.

Pink Halo-Halo is easily one of the biggest surprises of 2010. Originally an entry for the first ever Directors Showcase Category of the 2010 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, and winner for Best Editing, it is surprising because while it is one of the most touching, direct, honest, thought-provoking, and best acted films by anyone this year, it is also one of the most overlooked film in the competition.

Unlike most war movies, what we have with Pink Halo-Halo is a slow-paced story of innocence being taken away from a child as his soldier-father battles it out in Mindanao. The limp-wristed Natoy (Paolo Constantino) copes with the absence of his soldier-father, by playing with his best friend, Aldrin, and flying kites. In the center of it all, is his mother Sonia (Angeli Bayani), who is pretty much left with the unpleasant and grim realities of provincial life. Her mother-in-law dislikes her, and money can be very hard-earned in the impoverished Masbate.

It is obvious that the director, Joselito Altarejós, disapproves of the war in Mindanao. His film is clouded with a sense of dread. In the farewell scene where the father, Lino (Allen Dizon) takes his final trip to Mindanao. His wife and child watch as the ship slowly drifts away. Altarejós resents the war, but manages to avoid condemning it outright. The director instead lets us focus in on the conflict as seen through the eyes of the child, who watches unflinchingly as the realities of the war gets told simply in a school play acted in by his uncle, Mating (Mark Fabillar).

Pink Halo-Halo is a bold statement on the condition of the human soul during conflict. It is brave, not overly sentimental, and relentless in its dramatization of a dangerous reality. Paolo Constantino, Allen Dizon, Angeli Bayani and Mark Fabillar are all able actors, and the slow-moving tragedy is presented in subtle but beautifully detailed direction in the realist style of Joselito Altarejós.

It has received a citation from the Cinemalaya Kids Treats as Jury’s Selected Film for Children which describes the film as “a sensitive portrayal of a painful reality.” Suitable for all ages as it got a G rating from the MTRCB.

A beautiful film; not to be missed by anyone. It opens on August 11, 2010 at the following selected cinemas: Robinsons Galleria, SM Megamall, SM Southmall, Market Place Mandaluyong, Isetann Recto and SM Cebu.

I was browsing around Kabayan Central website, the Filipino version of amazon.com and I thought it was interesting to note their Top 10 Videos of February 2010.

Thank you to everyone who buy original DVD's! Mabuhay kayo!

A Hot Killer

photo courtesy of Philippine Daily Inquirer

Mark Dizon, 28 is accused of killing a series of expat families based in Angeles city. He poses as a computer technician and enters the victim's house and goes on a killing spree stealing all valuables inside.

Oh well, I just find this killer attractive and deserves a post in my blog as one of those bad boys I would like to have as a cell mate in case I get jailed.

Ball Hiding

Hiding one's testicles inside the groins of one's bikini to appear crotch-flat and feminine is a tedious and a physiologically demanding process.

Although it has been mastered by many trannies who parade in sexy two-piece outfits. In this photo, which I stole from a facebook account, the trannie has yet to learn the process of "Ball Hiding".

Against the Church

Mexico and Argentina, two devout Catholic countries have recently signed laws to recognize gay marriage much to the disapointment of their mother Church.

With these developments, it is obvious that the Catholic claws on morality has started to lose its grip.

But the question for us, will this be the same with the Philippines?
