The Sex Eye Ball part 2
Part 2
Yilmaz Bektas, the look-alike of our visitor |
A soft knock on my door soon followed. With one eye, I looked through the peep hole and there I saw the beautiful face that resembled the man in the picture. After a long exhalation, I opened the door to see a good looking man trapped in a body length that was just a few inches taller than the famous midget, Mahal. (to my recollection, I think he was below 5 foot tall).
A huge disappointment filled my pad as the foreigner stepped inside. Visions of Ylmaz Bektas soon disappeared.
A few pleasantries were exchanged with how-long-have-you-been-here-in-manila kind of conversation. The small talk ended. And we were confronted with the problem of how to dispose of this guy without losing Filipino hospitality.
In Tagalog, the celebrity and I conversed.
“Papauwiin ko na ito”, I declared.
“Ang samo mo naman. Kawawa naman yung tao. Ako na lang makikipag-sex sa kanya. Imagine-in ko na lang matangkad siya”, the celebrity offered.
I checked the profile again of our visitor. I saw the height. And it stated “5’9” – a clear deception.
The famouse midget Mahal |
“Huwag kang maawa. Sinungaling sya. Nanloko siya sa profile niya. Hence, he deserves to be rejected!”, I said.
“Paano mo papaalisin? Baka magwala!”, the celebrity asked.
“Akong bahala. Pag umalma, malalaman niyang dati akong kickboxer!”.
I got back to our visitor whose eyes were looking forward to fuck one of us.
“So, shall we start?”, the foreigner asked.
“Do you mean sex? Oh no, that’s not possible! Today is Good Friday. We Filipinos, we cannot have sex during Good Friday or we burn in hell forever”, I said.
“Oh, but I thought…”, the foreigner protested.
“We only wanted to make friends. But sex is a no-no. Not possible today. In fact, we are about to pray in a while. Do you want to join us?”
The foreigner left my pad peacefully. Now, here’s a case where religion really saved my ass!

The Sex Eye Ball part 1
Part 1
It was a Good Friday, one of those holidays that left the Ortigas business district almost empty of human activities. I invited this popular celebrity to come over my place (not for sex but just to hang out), as both of us were bored and stuck in the city. I was chatting over a gay social networking site when I came across a profile of a good looking Mediterranean guy looking for some hot action. He was almost a clone of Ylmaz, the former husband of actress Ruffa Gutierrez.

“Shit! Ang guwapo! Invite ko kaya ito, dito?”, I thought out loud. But the Celebrity was apprehensive. He didn’t like sexual indiscretions as it may hurt his “wholesome” image.
“Huwag kang mag-alala, hindi yan Pinoy. Hindi ka makikilala!”, I said. The foreigner agreed to come over. The celebrity and I were jumping like little girls getting a Barbie doll for the first time.
“What if he asks for a threesome?”, the celebrity wondered. After a shower and a mouth wash, both of us were ready to meet our Mediterranean visitor. Then a call from the building guard came confirming if we were expecting a visitor.
“Hindi. Papipiliin natin siya.”, I replied.
And now, like real gentlemen, we came up with an agreement.

Lance, one of the masseurs of Boys of Bora

Thesis Thanks
Hi Sir Lex,
It's me Anthony. It's been almost two years since I've interviewed you for my thesis. Now I have earned my Bachelor's Degree and work as a college instructor in some university here in Cebu. Thanks a lot for the big, big help, Sir. And I'm sorry if it took me almost two years to say thank you. In between landing-a-job pressure and finding-that-job-struggle, I unconsciously forgot to do it. FAIL.
Again thank you Sir Lex for the help.
P.S. I got a 1.0 for my thesis. It must have really been something. You're an inspiration. :)
*****
Hi Anthony,
Congratulations for finishing your course in UP Cebu. And congratulations for an impressive mark on your thesis. Thank you for remembering me. I wish you luck.
Continue to shine as a gay man,
Lex

New Bath House
Hi Lex,
Just want to share with you and your readers a new bath house along West Ave., Quezon city. It's called Playroom. It's probably the smalles bath house in Manila and it just opened a few months ago. They are still on a soft opening so the wet floors are still being constructed. They have VIP rooms here that has its own private shower and toilet. The place is pretty small though so it could get a bit cramped. But it's worth the try.
Playroom is near Mr. Kebab at West Ave., Just enter the Slice & Dice driveway and you won't miss the place. If you get a room here, the manager can offer you a masseur from the neighboring "spartacus" massage at a discounted rate.
Hope your readers will enjoy it.

Without Cuts
Actors Arjay Carreon and Marco Morales getting instructions from filmmaker Joselito Altarejos |
After the review I was called inside the preview room. Inside, I was greeted by an elegant matron, a Catholic priest and a TV actress. My knees began to shake. And my stomach became uneasy.
Their eyes were tired and indifferent. They asked me to sit right next to the TV set where the director's cut of the film just played.
The matron said. "It's an R rating for me. Keep this cut. How about you, father?"
"R-rating din!", the priest declared without looking into my eyes.
"R", the TV actress stated.
I was overwhelmed with the good news. Not knowing what to say, i blurted "I love you!" to every board member.
Laraung Lalake is APPROVED WITHOUT CUTS.

That Mark Joseph
Ever since I met him at the gym about a year ago, I had been curious about how Mark Joseph looked like before when he was an actor as one of the leading names of the "pene-movies" generation in the Philippines. For the sake of the younger generation, "pene-movies" referred to films that had actual genital penetration that were popular in the 80's.
Let me share with you some screenshots from "Silip" (by Elwood Perez) featuring the actor who was famous for his size down there.

The "Bi" Confusion
*****
So, when the term homosexual and bisexual permeated our culture, they simply became a synonym of our existing terms. Homosexuality conveniently took the seat of "bakla" and bisexuality became "silahis". In this case, the homo/bi - sexual concepts became "filipinized".
Ergo, in Manila, if a man claims to be "bi", oftentimes, he means, he is silahis. He prefers masculine clothes, and may or may not be attracted to the opposite sex.
Lex
Hairstylist Ricky Reyes personifies the "bakla" in Mass Media |
Here's an interesting comment about the confusion of the "bisexual" word as commonly used today in Manila:
i have to say this here lex but i really am beginning to hate that word - BI. it is the most abused word in the GLBT lingo. ang lalake pag takot na sabihin o aminin na bading siya, automatic yan, parang yes FM, ang ililabel niya sa sarili niya bi siya. so yung mga contestants ng mr posh walang bading, puro bi. eh lahat yan puro bayarang lalake sa boytoyforhire ni paris. and again, pagtatanungin mo sila ano ang orientation nila, sasabihin pa sayo straight sila kung makakalusot. pagna corner na, ang sagot, the most convenient answer in the gay world nowadays, bi ako in a major major way. i wonder what others will have to say to that.
Anonymous
Hi Anonymous,
Allow me to offer my own speculation on how all this "bisexual" term confusion has happened. Before the mid-20th century, Filipinos categorized the queer men into two: one is the "bakla" or "binabae", which refers to men who dress up like women. The other term is "silahis", men who are into other men but are masculine in nature.
Ogie Diaz personifies the "silahis" |
Now, here's where the confusion begins. "Silahis" may refer to any man (whether gay or bisexual) as long as they choose a masculine appearance. In simpler terms, Ricky Reyes in his red pants and make up is "bakla" and Ogie Diaz, in his jeans and shirts, and the fact that he has a wife despite of his publicly "gay persona" is "silahis" following this categories.
Ergo, in Manila, if a man claims to be "bi", oftentimes, he means, he is silahis. He prefers masculine clothes, and may or may not be attracted to the opposite sex.

Humiliated Gay Men
Last week, the Queeriosity Bath House along FB Harrison was raided by the police. According to my research, the bath house was raided because there were permits that they failed to renew. There was also a naked show happening that night which aggravated their case.
Now, here's the sickening part of it. While the raid was going on, crowds have gathered outside of the bath house which was near a slum area. When the clients were forced to board the jeepneys rented by the police, the crowds started jeering and shouting insults at our gay brothers.
What a sick society we live in.
