Gay Elephant Riles Politician
POLAND - A politician is angry that the city zoo bought an elephant that prefers the company of other males.
"we didn't pay 37 million zlotys for the largest elephant house in Europe to have a gay elephant live here," said Michal Grzes, a conservative council-member in the city of Poznan.
the 10-year old elephant, named Nino, has displayed aggressive behavior toward females, including pushing them into the pool. however his attitude to males has been called "affectionate."
is Nino gay? zookeepers say it's impossible to tell, as elephants don't reach adolescence until about 14.
