Erection Exhibition

( Lex posing with the male strippers backstage while preparing for their much awaited "erection exhibition" )

My shoot of this gay comedy film "Showboyz" has brought me twice to a distinct gay strip bar called "The Ultimate Zone" along Rizal Avenue (formerky known as Avenida).

It was my first time to witness some amusing performances from male strippers. The erection of the humongous sex organs of their performers were used to pop balloons, crush empty beer cans and even drag one case of beer bottles onstage!

Most of these performances are done during their "Big Nights" around midnight of Fridays (Saturday,12:30am) and Saturdays (Sunday, 12:30am).

"The Ultimate Zone" is located along Rizal Ave. (corner Fugoso st.), City of Manila.

Sexy Actor Shines

After winning several awards last year for his acclaimed performance as an inmate in Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos’ “Selda”, Emilio Garcia once again triumphs as he wins the Gawad Tanglaw Best Supporting Actor for his performance as the menacing cop in Joel Lamangan’s “Walang Kawala”. Indeed, it is another victory for this former sexy actor.

Last year, Emilio won the Best Actor in the Thesalloniki Film Festival in Greece, as well as the Gawad Urian, Gawad Tanglaw and the Star Awards Best Suporting actor Awards, all for “Selda”. This is Emilio’s second Gawad Tanglaw award for two consecutive years. The actor is busy now
taping for the television programs “Gagambino” and “Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?” for GMA 7.

He is set to start work in Paul Sta. Ana’s “Marino”, about the lives of Filipino marines where he is set to star with Ara Mina, Victor Basa, Allen Dizon, Geneva Cruz, among others. Another
project that excites Emilio is Joel Lamangan’s “Dukot (Desapericidos)”, written by Palanca Awardee Boni Ilagan and also co-starring Iza Calzado, Gina Alajar, Robert Arevalo, Allen Dizon and Snooky Serna. In “Dukot”, Emilio plays a reporter who is fighting for a cause and helping out victims of human rights. Meanwhile, Emilio will be awarded by the Ani ng Sining Awards by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in celebration of the Philippine International Arts
Festival on February 28. This is for Emilio’s triumph for Selda in the Thesalloniki Film Festival in Greece.

Meet Jay at SM

(Baron Gaisler is Jay)

Finally, "Jay", one of the most accclaimed gay-themed Filipino films will now be shown nationwide starting February 4.

This film won Cinemalaya Best Picture last year and is the Asian Hotshots winner this year. Directed by first time filmmaker, Francis Pasion, "Jay" stars Baron Geisler and Coco Martin. It will be shown on SM Cinemas (NORTH EDSA, MEGAMALL, FAIRVIEW, MANILA, STA. MESA, SOUTHMALL, MALL OF ASIA, BACOOR, SAN LAZARO, CEBU, DAVAO, PAMPANGA, CLARK)

I plead all the Philippine-based gay men to support this film so more "sensible" gay films could be produced in the near future.

For me, "Jay" is so far the best written gay film produced from our country. Let's all troop to SM Cinemas to support this project!

Toffee Calma Goes Gay!

Sexy Actor from the late 90's Toffee Calma goes gay in his new independent film "Showboyz". In this comedy film by director Crisaldo Pablo, Toffee shuns his hunky image and gets to wear sexy cocktail dresses and colorful wigs as he plays a flambuoyant gay strip bar manager who takes care of an innocent boy from the province played by Topher Baretto (Quick Trip).

For the past few years, Toffee was out of the limelight after having done lead roles in several bold films during the turn of the millenium. Acccording to him, he went to Thailand to accept modeling jobs. After this stint, he came back to Manila and worked behind the camera as a TV show researcher for ABS-CBN's "Rated K". He stayed there for a little more than a year as this job was one of his childhood dreams. But as he confessed, he had to give up this daily work as his finances soon dwindled since this dream job didn't make enough money.

Toffee is now busy with his handicrafts business -- designing his own pieces and importing works from abroad. His shop is located in Paranaque.

Toffee's new film "Showboyz" will be shown on February, 2009.

Rico Barrera's Blow Job

Rico Barrera gets a blow job or so it seems in this behind-the-scene photo of his new film "Walang Hanggang Paalam". Kneeeling by the groins of Rico Barrera, the former Pinoy Big Brother Season 1 Hunk is the equally handsome Jake Roxas.

The film "Walang Hanggang Paalam" also stars Joem Bascon, Jacky Woo and Lovi Poe.

This independent feature is directed by two of my most respected directors in Philippine Cinema, the formidable tandem of Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos (the creators of Selda and Ilusyon).

Premiere is on February 8, 8pm at the Robinsons Galleria. Regular run is February 11 to 18 at Robinsons Indiesine.

Manny Pangilinan for President?

Manny Pangilinan

I read from Cito Beltran's column at the Philippine Star that one of the presidentiables that he would like to support is businessman, Manny Pangilinan. Mr. Pangilinan built an empire through his company that now controls Smart and PLDT, among other corporations in the Philippines.

If Mr. Pangilinan becomes the president, I predict he could be the most "gay friendly" president in our history.

How I wish he runs. The Pinoy gay community should be behind him!

Showboyz Shoot

Last night, I came from the shoot of Crisaldo Pablo's latest film, "Showboyz". No, I did not write the script. But I came there as an actor playing a pretentiously discreet gay man who works for a gay strip bar. And mind you, I participated in one of the stripper's dance numbers in the film almost naked wearing my pekpek shorts (very skimpy shorts -- go ahead, you can vomit now!)

The film stars Topher Barreto and a surprisingly hunky actor in a very gay role. And I must say this is one of the most memorable shoots I've ever had!

Hanging Out with Jail Boys

About three years ago, I met a group of gay men who did the rounds of going to a City Jail to visit their boyfriends in there.

Together with a bag of donuts and a few packs of brand new Bench briefs, these gay men brought me to the City Jail to experience the rampa (sexual adventures and cruising) inside the heavily guarded compound.

We left our cellphones outside the jail. And came in for some frisking and logbook recording. We gave a 20 peso bill to our guide.

Going inside the city jail was just like going to a slum area. Half naked criminal looking guys lounge around everywhere playing with videoke, billiards and basketball. I met the boy friends of some of my new friends. And they were surprisingly quite good looking. They introduced me to other good looking inmates who are all accused of drug related cases.

Some of my companions got their bookings (sex mates) for the price of about 200 pesos. And they paid additional 50 pesos as rentals for the kubol (small room) that they used. Apparently, such activity is a commonplace in their community.

I decided to hang around with some openly gay inmates. They described to me their harrowing experience on their first few days inside the compound. They were physically abused by some authorities as they claimed. But for them, the next few days became quite an adventure as sex was really abundant inside the premises. Whenever they got to the public restroom, they told me their stories of different men always craving to shoot their load on them. (but of course, I wasn't sure if these men are all attractive and worth the efffort).

Different stories and realities confronted me on that day. Some are erotic. Many are sad. Hanging out with the jail boys was such a memorable day.

Thanks Mama Khryss!

I'd like to share a personal letter to Khryss Adalia, director of several soap operas (Mula sa Puso, etc) who has passed away late last year:

Dear mama Khryss,

I am saddened to hear that you have already passed away. And I never had the chance to thank you for the inspiration you have given me. We were never close. But you are one of my teachers whom I always hold dear in my heart.

I met you on a crossroad in my life. I was 19, about to go to the US to take up nursing. And while processing my papers, I enrolled in your class for theatre acting in PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association).

During our training, you christened me with a nick name, which I would never forget – “Meryl Streep”. You told me I was like Meryl – able to attack a character with depth and subtlety.

Looking back, I knew such comparison was just a hyperbole. But for a lanky and insecure teenager like me, I admit, it was one of those things that I treasured.

Your stories about how you loved to role play when you were young made me think about my own childhood. Such stories gave me a reason to think that perhaps, someday, I could also be successful as you are.

Thank you, Mama Khryss. You were one of the people who inspired me to take that bold move in following my dreams. I decided to cancel my enrolment in my school to pursue a career in entertainment here in our country. And I was right, I couldn’t be happier.

I hope someday, I’ll be successful as well. And I hope I’ll be able to also touch young dreamers the way you have made a difference in my life.

Sex Cruiser?

Here's an interesting point I read from regarding personality profiles of gay men cruising for sex. According to Gershen Kaufman, a professor emeritus of psychology at Michigan State University and author of the book "Coming Out of Shame," :
"Public cruising is practiced mainly by deeply closeted men. Cruisers are not sex offenders. They are deeply, deeply closeted. There is a lot of self-hatred and shame and they can't allow themselves to come to terms with their sexuality. There is also the added element of danger and being discovered,"

Squirt is an enjoyable website catering to sexually exploring gay men. It boasts of a comprehensive cruising details of bath houses, public rest rooms, movie houses and parks from all around the world.

It provides pictures of the cruisy places, location maps, unwritten rules, best time to visit and many other tips to keep cruising safe and enjoyable

It has an impressive database on Philippines contributed by its Pinoy members.

Naked Yoga

I have always been intrigued by the "Hot Nude Yoga" which is popular among gay men in New York City.

According to its founder Aaron Star "HNY (Hot Nude Yoga) is a unique opportunity for men, who are healthy and in good physical condition, to raise their consciousness and initiate a yoga practice."

"More specifically, at HNY, we practice Tantra Yoga, which will teach you how to access untapped sexual core energy so that you can learn to live your life with inner peace and joy. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet other physically fit men and discover, through partner yoga, how to touch other men energetically and sensually."

Imagine breathing deeply in a warm place with hot sexy men, doing different asanas (yoga poses) -- to me sounds like a heavenly workout!

Now, I'm thinking whether to offer a naked yoga classs here in Manila as well! Hmmm....

I was at the gym when I noticed a group of well built men who looked quite familiar. One of them waved his muscled arm at me.

I realized these guys were the strippers in our video "Hubad: Striptease Sessions for the Daring Man". One of the strippers is now a certified physical trainer at the gym. And the rest of them are still active in different strip bars around the metro.

And I just confirmed that the video's lead Johnron Tanada is now in Macau for a "secret" mission.

This video is still available on DVD's.

Christine Jorgensen

Christine Jorgensen was famous in the US for having been the first widely known individual to have the sex reassignment surgery in this case from male to female.

In 1953, she was even named by New York city as Woman of the Year. Jorgensen's traditional values explain why this prim and proper young lady was so well received by a conservative America.

Because Jorgensen lent her face to the cause of transexuality, thousands of cases came out of woodwork. Until then, it was believed that there were only a few "deviants" to be dealth with.

Gay Sex in Movie Houses

My recent post on gay sex on movie houses (Goodbye Cinema) drew a very interesting argument from some of Lexuality’s most sensible readers.

Mr. Anonymouse thinks having gay sex in movie houses is unacceptable. Here is the comment:

That is just disgusting.Activities like these are the things that are setting the gay rights movement backward. If we want respect, then we should act with respect. If we want society to perceive us as equal human beings then we should at least not give them the impression that we are sex-crazed maniacs.Sex in the cinemas (while entirely exhilarating) is just unethical and really quite distasteful behavior. And the way you exalt the cinema and by extension the act is just backward.

On the other hand, one of Lexuality’s more discerning readers, “Mr. Line of Flight” has given a broader perspective on this matter:

Of course, I disagree with Anonymous. Gays will never get respect by trying to imitate other people. People must be in their own integrity. I don't know if casual, anonymous moviehouse sex is in line with that.I think Anonymous' comments of moviehouse sex being unethical is way over the top. What is unethical about it? The advent of the cinema is what produced the 20th century notion of romantic love and modern dating (straight and gay).Cinema and the automobile (in Euro-America) provided a "private" place for couples to be intimate (get to know one another, make out, whatever) which was not available when people courted by having callers drop in and visit with the entire family. The fact that gays have used this space for a variation on this (especially for those young gays who can't afford SOGO or elsewhere), provides ample evidence to support a challenge to the claim that its unethical. Such a claim is clearly classist and seeks to create a class specific notion of gay liberation.

For me, conformity to heterosexual standards would never bring true liberation for the queer community.

Thank your Mr. Line of Flight, I couldn’t have said it much better.

Help! I Want a Boyfriend!

Here's a post at the chatbox by Marj26 that caught my attention:

bakit sa akin walang ngkakagusto? kasi di ako attractive at openly gay ako dapat po ba maging discreet ako para may magmahal skin? (How come no one is interested to have me in a relationship? Is that because I am openly gay and I am not discreet. Do I have to be such just so someone could fall in love with me?)

(How I wish that after a day of hard work, some guy looks forward for me to get home just because he loves to see me. I wish everyone to have that special someone. I hope I could experience such love as well.)

Hi Marj 26,

Being loud and openly gay should not stop you from finding love. That's a misconception. I am openly gay and far from being discreet but I have experienced wonderful relationships even from the very discreet closet imprisoned gay men. You should always be true to yourself if you want a genuine relationship. And never compromise your very being just for another person.

In terms of attractiveness, that's a social rule that we all have to abide in if we want to attract other people. Do your best to become as presentable as you are. Get fit. Live a healthy life. And if you have extra money, spend on products and services that will make you more attractive, so to speak.

No one wants to be in a relationship with a person who cannot even take care of himself (unless you are looking for the neurotic kind).

Being human, it is natural to crave for companionship and genuine relationship. But hey, life never loses its meaning even if we navigate it alone all by ourselves.

Genuinely love yourself. And true love will most likely follow.

Marco Morales in Butas

"Butas" (Loophole) is a film about the elusiveness of truth in a crime of passion. Set in a dilapidated house in Binangonan, Rizal, this film stars award winning actor Allen Dizon, stage actress and "Serbis" star Mercedes Quebral, former Viva hotbabe Gwen Garci and the Filipino gay's newest sensation Marco Morales (for his frontal nudity scene in "Walang Kawala")

The film is written and directed by Alejandro Ramos. Director's Cut premiere is on January 12 at the UP Cine Adarna (UP Diliman, Quezon City)

The Pressured Gay Son

I have met a number of gay men complaining about their family's indirect pressure on them to become succcessful in their careers.

These gay men feel that their families are indirectly forcing them to become more successful financially than most of their siblings. A good side of this phenomenon is that gay individuals become more hard working and productive in their chosen field of profession
On the other hand, this fact aside from forcing many unprepared gay men to become bread winners of their families also reflects society putting less value on gay men -- for a gay man to be accepted, one has to have money and power because inherently being gay itseld puts you on a disadvantage in this society we live in.

And that's just one of the social realities that we, gay men must learn to eradicate.

Goodbye Cinema

SM City North Edsa has reconstructed a new extension beside their main mall. In the process, they have torn down their four cinemas which have been a playground for gay men for many years.

Countless experiences, infatuations, thrills and orgasms have happened each day of each of these cinemas.

When the time comes when full liberation among Filipino gay men is achieved, an award must be given to SM or the family that owns it, the Sy's for providing a venue of "total entertainment" for the gay men during the days when gay sex still had to be kept from the judging eyes of the society.

Goodbye, SM Annex Cinemas. Thank you for the memories.

Coming very soon is a film from first-time-full-length-feature film director, Monti Parungao. The film's title is "Sagwan" and was shot entirely in Quezon. Mr. Parungao also wrote the script of this film. Aside from finishing several TV commercials for Unitel, Monti is also an accomplished television director having done "Extra Challenge" and "Survivor".

I'm looking forward to this film.

Josh Refuses

(Josh Ivan Morales for Climax Magazine)

The other day, sexy actor Josh Ivan Morales sent me an SMS. He thanked me for referring him to some filmmaker friends who needed an actor for their film. But he also informed that he decided to turn down all these films as it required him to do frontal nudity scenes.

Yes, Josh Ivan Morales has now, refused to go naked in front of the camera!

That’s a sad news for many of his gay fans out there.

Flirting in a Jacuzzi

I was naked in a Jacuzzi inside a spa and right in front of me was a naked gorgeous man – nice & chiselled face, fit & toned body. But here’s the catch, he only has one leg. He’s an amputee.

I started a conversation and asked him how he lost his leg. He got it through an accident. His words and sentences revealed his background – educated and respectable.

And I asked him if he ever experienced “Phantom Limbs” – the condition where a patient actually experiences sensation on an absent limb way after it has been cut from him. And he said, yes.

I told him that I read a book about phantom limbs and I was amazed how it is simply a mix up of nerve sensations within the brain. The idea is that it is similar to the penis feeling a sensation when you stimulate the toes.

He got interested in the theory.

And I began to stroke his toe playing “footsie” with him. And he got an erection!

So Many Men

From the gay district of Malate to the different establishments around Metro Manila catering to the gay market, it is easy to take note that in the gay dating scene, there are many men…so many men!

And just like the countless shampoo products on TV, it’s hard to tell which of these men are telling the truth and who among them are worth your time.

The overwhelming options in the dating arena confuse every participant within the game. Perhaps, confusion is actually part of the rules in this weird gay dating game? Isn’t it?

Dating Asshole

Have you ever ignored calls and text messages from someone that you are dating? Have you suddenly stopped communicating with your date without explaining why? Do you have an affair that you have just ended with no ceremony or whatsoever?

If you said yes to any of these questions, then you are a dating asshole just like me!

And I admit that I have been one to several other people. And I am heartily sorry for doing such immature act.

In this new year coming up, let’s try to avoid repeating such insensitive acts. And be man enough to explain and communicate our decisions on our relationships however deep or superficial these affairs may be.
